All proceeds to benefit Verona Street Animal Society
In case you missed the first one or you’re looking for another chance at glorious victory here’s your chance!
There will be drink specials and burgers. Free to get in and only $10 to enter the tournament! Make sure to show up early, registration is first come first serve.
We’ll have raffles and prizes for first, second and third places in the tournament.
Day of registration will be from 4p-5p or until we run out of room
The tournament is a variation of a double elimination style bracket. What this means is of the 4 competitors per match 1st & 2nd will move on to the next round and 3rd & 4th will be eliminated. From the second round on all the people who placed 1st will be against each other and all who placed 2nd will face off against each other.
Individual matches will consist of 4 races or 1 cup: Mushroom, Flower, Star or Special cups in the 150cc category. Each match will usually take between 10-20 minutes. Points will be awarded per race and are equal to what is awarded in the games “grand prix” mode. Those are:
1st place = 9 points
2nd place = 6 points
3rd place = 3 points
4th place = 1 point
Seed numbers will be determined by the order of registration for the first round and for the following rounds your score in the previous round. Pre-registration is live and you can reserve your spot by sending your $10 donation to Bull Elephant’s website(https://www.bullelephantbeard.com/events/mariokart).
Gameplay will be 4 players per screen per match. Character choice order will be determined by seed number. There will be referees at each TV monitoring fairness, taking scores and playing the part of the IT department. Pauses/stoppages will only be allowed due to hardware failures; something getting unplugged, a controller failure, etc. In the event a system needs to be reset the race you were on will be restarted and completed race scores in that match will be kept. Any cheating, i.e. shortcuts that aren’t part of the course, interfering with other players’ views or controllers, intentionally causing a stoppage, etc., will be grounds for disqualification. Remember this all for charity.
(Rules will be updated as needed up until the day before the tournament but will remain here. Please feel free to share any thoughts or questions. Especially if you’d like to volunteer!)
